A Different Kind of WIN Evening: The Reunion at the Kiln Theatre
Earlier this month, a group of Women’s Irish Network members — familiar faces and new ones alike — came together for a special night at the theatre to see The Reunion at the Kiln Theatre.
From the moment members arrived, there was a great buzz in the air. Guests were greeted with complimentary refreshments and light bites in a cosy alcove near the bar, setting the tone for an evening of connection, conversation and culture. Many members came solo, which made the informal catch-up time before the play even more special — a chance to meet new people and chat over a glass of wine before heading into the auditorium.
The play itself — a gripping family drama set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland — was completely captivating. Running one hour and forty minutes straight through, The Reunion drew the audience in from the opening scene and didn’t let go. What began as a quiet gathering quickly unravelled into a storm of family secrets, dysfunction and long-buried truths, all intensified by an approaching tempest outside. There were both funny and deeply moving moments, and the performances were so powerful that many in the audience rose to their feet at the end for a standing ovation.
As one member put it:
“The play was so engaging that the time just flew by. The acting was superb, and the ending — though a little open — left us talking about it long after.”
The night also offered the chance to celebrate Irish creativity and heritage in a very fitting venue. The Kiln Theatre, formerly The Tricycle, has a rich history of championing Irish writing and storytelling. In fact, The Reunion marks something of a homecoming — a return to the kind of bold, emotionally charged drama that has long been part of the theatre’s DNA.
“It was brilliant to see such a good turnout of WIN members,” said another attendee. “I met some wonderful new women and felt proud to be part of such a warm, open community.”
The Reunion was a hit — a night full of emotion, laughter and connection that reminded us why we love bringing women together through art and culture.
Thank you to all our members who joined us and helped make it such a memorable evening.
