Women’s Irish Network Summer Event: What a Night!

What. A. Night.

We were absolutely delighted to welcome Dr Megan Rossi, Dr Helen O’Neill and Leah Christian, Founder and CEO of The House of Hormones, as our special guest speakers for the Women’s Irish Network Summer Event, held in the beautiful surroundings of The Athenaeum Hotel & Residences.

From the moment guests arrived, there was a real buzz in the room. For the WIN team, it was a genuine pinch-me moment to bring together such an incredible panel of experts and advocates for women’s health. Alongside plenty of fan-girl moments, there was also a serious amount of learning.

The evening began with brilliant stand-up comedy sets from London-based Irish comedians Grace Mulvey and Riona O’Connor, whose humour, honesty and relatable storytelling set the perfect tone for the conversations that followed.

Our panel discussion, expertly chaired by Leah Christian, explored everything from gut health and hormones to perimenopause, self-advocacy and navigating the overwhelming amount of health information available online. What made the discussion so impactful was its balance of scientific expertise, practical advice and open, honest conversation.

A Few Key Takeaways from the Evening

Cut Through the Noise

With so much health information circulating on social media, it’s important to identify trusted experts and evidence-based sources that resonate with you and your personal health journey.

Talk About Your Health

We speak to our friends about almost everything, yet conversations around health can still feel difficult. The panel encouraged women to speak more openly about their health concerns and to advocate for themselves when seeking support and treatment.

Your Gut Health Matters

Dr Megan Rossi highlighted that you can train your gut much like you would train for a marathon. Small, consistent dietary changes can have a significant impact over time. One key recommendation was to gradually introduce more of the “Super Six” plant foods into your diet, with legumes highlighted as a particularly beneficial place to start.

Three Simple Reminders

If there was one thing we all left with, it was this:

  • Look after your gut.

  • Eat more legumes.

  • Put yourself first.

A huge thank you to Leah Christian for bringing such warmth, expertise and energy to the evening, and to our incredible speakers for sharing their knowledge so generously.

We would also like to thank our sponsor, Revive Active UK. The goodie bags were nothing short of amazing and were a huge hit with everyone who attended.

At the heart of the Women’s Irish Network is a commitment to supporting Irish female talent, entrepreneurs and professionals in London, creating a space where women can connect, share experiences, build meaningful relationships and support one another’s personal and professional growth. Through events like these, we celebrate the achievements of Irish women while fostering a strong and supportive community.

Most importantly, thank you to our Women’s Irish Network community. Your enthusiasm, openness and willingness to engage in these conversations are what make events like this so special.

We’re already looking forward to the next one. 🍀
