Women’s Irish Network and Irish Youth Foundation Celebrate Longstanding Partnership at Irish Embassy Reception
WIN announces generous £8,000 donation to IYF, underscoring commitment to supporting Irish charities across the UK
London, 22 May 2025 – On the 21st of May, the Women’s Irish Network (WIN) proudly joined forces with the Irish Youth Foundation (IYF) to host an exclusive reception at the Irish Embassy in London. The event celebrated IYF’s vital work supporting Irish charities throughout the UK and showcased WIN’s ongoing commitment to empowering the Irish community abroad. The highlight of the evening was WIN’s significant donation of £8,000 to the foundation, aimed at sustaining and expanding its charitable efforts.
WIN Chair, Yvonne Maher, warmly welcomed over 100 attendees, including valued WIN members who were invited to this prestigious gathering. In her address, Yvonne emphasized the importance of collaboration between WIN and IYF, stating, “We are rooted in action and giving back. We are a voluntary organisation, and the money we raise — through membership, events, and our own initiatives like Walk with WIN — goes directly to the Irish Youth Foundation. These are small acts with huge impact — and WIN is proud to be part of that change.”
Deputy Head of Mission Orla Mc Breen officially opened the event, underscoring the strength and spirit of the Irish diaspora in the UK. The event was also attended by Mrs. Deirdre Fraser, wife of the Irish Ambassador to the UK, who has been a steadfast supporter of WIN throughout the past year, regularly attending events and championing the network’s mission to connect and empower Irish women in London.
The reception highlighted the shared vision of WIN and IYF to foster a thriving Irish community in the UK through support, collaboration, and targeted charitable giving. The Irish Youth Foundation is the only UK-wide charity specifically dedicated to assisting disadvantaged Irish youth and their families. Funds raised and donated by WIN members contribute directly to a wide range of welfare organisations and community groups.
